Question
how do i fix this?? 20yr old?
When I was 5 months preg. I had this credit card that I used ONCE at Sonic for about $9.00 lol please remember I was pregnant and I dont usually spend that much at Sonic all of the time haha..well, long story short I lost/forgot about the card and I had moved out of my parents house and they always throw away my mail just supposing that it is junk mail until about 11 months after they finally opened a statement with the charges, thankfully there wasnt any intrest applied to it so I went and paid off the 9 and some change but its been about a year since I paid it off and this had prevented me from getting a credit card for Macy's. What should I state in the letter to the agency that it was reported to so that I could get this off of my credit??

Nothing. There is nothing you can state to them to make them take it off, you defaulted and thats what they report, and it will stay on there for 7 years. Only if the creditors want to delete they will if they dont they dont have to, but it will come off after 7 years. Dispute the item with each bureau equifax, transunion, and experian.com, and if its 20 years old it will come off. E-mail me with anymore questions on what to do.

I find it very unbelievable that the credit card didn't charge you any interest or late fees. Or that the unpaid account continued to send out normal monthly statements for 11 months. If you only had to pay the $9 originally charged on the account, you got away lucky. Unfortunately, the derogatory stays on your credit report.
