Almost any kind of debt can wind up on your credit reports if it goes to a company's internal collections department because you failed to honor the agreement, provided they subscribe to the three major credit agencies. If they turn it over to an outside collections agency, then it will DEFINITELY turn up on your reports. Being that it's just a book, it's debatable whether an outside collector (or the company itself) would bother with it since the hassle would almost surely be worth more than the payoff to them. Do you really want to gamble with a collection account on your credit for 7 years? Just pay what you owe, it's less expensive in the long run.
