Credit card processing
What do I do? Wells Fargo libelously placed a negative comment on my credit report.?
Question
How to pull up my credit score? (Between 530-550)?
Hi all, So my credit troubles started when i was in college. I had no idea how much this would effect me in the future. I had a few credit cards but no loans as a student. I screwed these up really bad. 3 years ago when I got my first job I decided to turn my financial situation around. My credit score at the time was 440. I borrowed a $3000 personal loan at 18% interest with a co-signer, and paid off all the delinquencies on my account hoping my score would sky rocket. That did not happen. All the accounts I closed are still on my report and are marked as "Potentially Negative Closed"... I dont understand what this means but I do belive it is still hurting my credit. Is that true and what really is "potentially negative closed".... I got a couple of small credit cards through pre-approved offers, and have been paying them on time for the last 1 year. I managed to get a car loan from a small credit union for $9000 but pay an alarming 19% interest on it. I have not missed a single payment in the last 3 years, and I understand that this process requires a lot of patience; But after all this my scores are Experian: 543, Equifax: 552, Transunion: 526..... What am I doing wrong?......

Unfortunately, paying a collections account in full does not remove it from your report, nor does it change it from a negative listing to a positive listing. The fact that it was *ever* in collections is what makes it negative. I really am sympathetic to your situation. It's sad that a person can realize they have made mistakes in the past, do everything they can to make things right, and continue to do the right things in the future...yet still never get anywhere. I highly recommend that you look into credit repair. Contrary to popular belief, it can be done legally and can keep you from having to live like this for the next few years or more.

It appears that you are doing everything right, no late payments great job! It is just going to take time and on-time payments to re-establish your credit rating. One thing to do on your credit cards is to pay them off in full each month, if you can not afford to do this always keep your balance below 30% of your cards credit limit. The accounts that are marked as potentially negative closed have lost most of their ability to hurt your credit after the first 2 years. They will remain on your credit report for 7 years. The negative accounts are they from collection accounts or the original lender, who did you pay the money to? What does your credit report say? Do you have charge-offs and collections listed on your report?

I read this somewhere sorry don't remember where! But if a person with poor credit makes good payments, it will have a very small positive impact on his score. The exact opposite is true of people with good credit. If a person with good credit makes a late payment, it will have a small negative impact on their score. That's how this society works! Keep the rich rich and the poor people poorer! Just keep doing what you're doing. You're taking 1 step forward and 0 steps back. Eventually you'll make your way up there with the good credit people.

Sorry... not likely going to happen. But one warning... if you respond to any online bank offer that requires you to pay an upfront fee for a loan... it is a scam. It is actually illegal to charge an upfront fee or a downpayment on a promised Loan. Any fees and charges are attached to the amount you finance and you will pay those fees with your interest on the loan. So... do not fall for the scammer that offered you a loan as long you pay them a downpayment or a fee for the loan processing costs.
