Personal connections are the best free advertising there is. Get on meetup.com and join networking groups in your area. Always give your card to everyone you meet. I like to give them 2 or 3 cards so they have on hand to pass out to anyone they refer to you should the chance arise. Volunteer your services to worthy causes. Not only will you feel great but all of the people involved with that organization will highly recommend you. Get involved in events in your community. Go to fairs, festivals, home shows, all that fun stuff (and usually free!). And talk to people! Even if you don't think they would be interested in your services, you never know who knows someone that just might be your biggest client! Offer referral incentives to your existing clients. Send an email or call absolutely everyone you know. Tell them (briefly) about your business and ask them to refer 3 people they think might be interested or they think might know someone that would be. People are far more likely to refer someone they or someone they are comfortable with, have at least met. Another good tip is thank you notes. Whenever you talk to someone or they refer you to someone make sure you send a thank you note (a real one, not an email). It's a little thing that makes huge impact.

I think social networks sites are a perfect start! The best way to market your business or product for free is by word of mouth. Get the word out there, and possibly give them a free sample or something (good promotional tactic). Also try getting it in Newspapers as well. If you have time can you answer mine: answers ...

presuming you have several websites, why not try 'search engine optimisation' so that your businesses can come 'up the ranks' on any search,for your products/services depending on the subject of your video tutorials you could link onto colleges, or employment agencies, job vacancy websites What about linking them on to myspace, or other free networking sites

Hello Becky. As some already said above, Social media network strategies are really good. Just make sure that you are promoting yourself or your business at the right places. In other words, make your posts in fields related to your business. that's a good way to find the right market niche. I think that printed stuff wont be so effective as the advertising you could make trough the internet, even though if you pay for it. In my point of view, it is an investment that has results. You can advertise for free alot on the internet but it will take you months and mabey even years to get ahead of the rest and get prime positioning with Google, now you can register with as many free business directories online as possible and this will generate a little more extra business ones like www ... are the best, however if you are serious about making decent money sometime soon you will need to spend money in order to receive the best advertising and exposure, im not into pay per click as i see it as a waste of money and it limits your potential clients. A great site though is; www ... here you can pay a once of fee for the top site on google and then you simply pay a monthly fee for them to keep you there, they have proven records and traffic reports from google as well so you know what you're buying and what to expect. i would concentrate on using free methods that might take a couple of months to really start bringing in traffic... but once they do... you will have a stream of automated traffic going to your websites whilst you study... look to the long term solutions! as a short term solution you could use PPC or banner ads... even finding ezines that will allow you to advertise your website on.

It really would take a whole day plus some but you can advertise on classified ad websites for free (for most that is,some cost). If you don't want to spend all that time and can afford between $15- $50 a month, a service called Premiere Ads Online will do all the work for you! They will write your ad for you and make up a really nice webflyer to ad zing to your ad! It's similar to putting your ad in the paper but it's a lot cheaper and you reach more people. You'll probably want to stick with it for a few months at least so you can see results (just like any form of advertising.) If you want to check them out their site is www.premiereadsonline.com . Hi Becky You haven't said what kind of business it is, but I'm guessing if you have been running for a while there is a list of customers? It's 10 times easier, and 16 times cheaper to sell to an existing customer than to find a new one. So I'd revisit those customers with some email marketing and schedule regular newsletters so that when you are back studying, your hard work continues to bring in income!
