i need craigslist help..?

this guy wants to buy my earrings and he said his secretary will send a check for $400.0usd and i can cash it then give him the earrings later. but today he send me a email saying his secretary accidentally sent out a check for $2400.00usd and i should deduct my 400 and send the rest to his secretary through WaMu (money isnt retractable through WaMu, so im suspicious) so if i cash this check can i get into trouble? and is he trying to scam me?

It's absolutely a scam. If he was legit, he would have stopped payment on the check and sent a new one. Much cleaner, easier to balance the checkbooks.

yes it is a scam i have seen this before what they do is make you cash the check and write a check for them and send it back IMMEDIATELY! right? thats because they want to have your check before theirs clears ( because it wont clear) then they just scammed you for a lot of money dont do it!!

Omg plain and simple if you do this you will be screwed!! I would get him back at home own game.. I would call the authorities right away and scam him back. No asshole would mess with me...

It sounds like a scam to me. Send back the check that was written in error and request a money order or some such thing in payment. Even then, I would wait for payment to actually clear your bank before sending him the merchandise.
