Can a company do nothing but own franchises?

Can you start a company whose sole purpose is to buy franchises such as mcdonalds, dunkin donuts, and hilton hotels...

Absolutely. The first major company I worked for was owned by a guy who was the largest Pizza Hut franchise holder in the country. The division I worked for was another franchise, and when I left we had 24 stores. Hope this helps.

Most of the companies require lots of business involvement from the owners. For example: is you buy a Dominos Pizza you'd have to be at you store for some specific amount of hours per week. so it depends on the Company you're buying a franchise from.

I know Smoothie King only has 1 corporate store and several hundred franchised stores. Not sure if it can be ZERO, but I do know it can be as low as one.
