Question

Life insurance claim 6 years after death?

My grandfather died 6 years ago. During his life he was very sucessful until the last 6 years he divorced my grandmother and wasted all his money.. or so we thought. Recently searching for unclaimed money i found several results in gold holdings that he invested before his life turned. I have collected these with ease. Now i have just found out he has a life insurance policy through MASSACHUSETTS MUTUAL. My grandfather must have taken this out before he changed his ways. I have no idea how much is in it or any information about it besides the company he took it from. How do i find out which family member he left the money to and how to collected it? please anything will help

Life insurance is actually very flexible. Since I live in Nebraska I'm not familiar with the Massachusetts laws and regulations, so I suggest you call a nearby insurance agent. www ... They should be able to help you.

As executor, you contact the insurance company and ask them if there is a policy. Clearly you must be executor if you have claiming other funds of his.

Write to them and ask. Most companies are keen to settle. I have just heard from Norwich Union that a company I worked for for a couple of months 38 years ago put aside a little pension for me. They traced me, not the other way round. You should find them keen to sort matters out. Good luck.

Only the executor or Solicitor has the right to such information. If you are executor contact the company direct.

Call and file a claim. A link is below.

You can't - only the executor of the estate can find out. You have to have LEGAL INTEREST. But, to file a claim, you just call them, and ask them for a claim form. Then you fill it in, send it with a copy of the death certificate and policy number, and the BENEFICIARY will be paid. Or maybe it's been claimed already, but if it has, they can't tell you by whom - it would violate the privacy laws.
