In a Department of Housing property they are very negotiable. Talk to them and organise a payment plan to pay off the Arrears you owe them. You can usually pay an extra $20 a week to pay of the arrears. Charities generally do not give you money to pay your rent, they will give you money to buy food if you pay extra on your rent which leaves you short on food. The best suggestion is the first one. Go and Talk to them, I am sure they will let you pay it off.

if you have the system of social help in australia that's the best way to go and raise the issue why they give help to foreigners and not you citizen of the country, because in europe they help bloody foreigners first before the citizen themselves so go to your social help and the bring out the issue

A Dept of housing rent is usually a % of your income - if your income has increased then you should be able to pay the resulting increase in rent. This could not have come as a shock as the rent % would have been spelt out in your contract
