Question
Need help finding a 2bedroom that accepts section8?
I been looking online for my friend for the last month & YES MY FRIEND. She has a son & has been approved for the program, but does not have internet access, so i'm trying to help a little. Cleveland schools really suck & that's where she's at now so looking for a place in one of the Cleveland surrounding area's like Parma, N.Royalton, Berea, etc. I know u get a list from the county but that's not much help out of living in the city of Cleveland & if u chose the voucher program rather then project housing u only have 60 days to find a spot on ur own. I've went on so many websites & they refer u to others but i seem to not be having any luck finding any1 that accepts the vouchers. I also know some people don't like to rent to sec8 people cause their pigs, dirty or will have 20 others moving in. She is very clean, works hard everyday, & it's only for her & son as i mentioned b4. If any1 has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. I just don't know where else to try to search & get a listing or something. I'm gonna check out the Plain Dealer tomorrow 4her, Cause i know a lot of people don't like to advertise that they accept the vouches. Thanks for all ur feedback & please no dumb/rude comments. It would be greatly appreciated if some1 can help lead us in the rgt direction to find a place for them. I asked earlier & had in a different category, but didn't seem to get any good / helpful responses She's staying in Cuyahoga county

Check out the local apartment listings for the areas you friend would consider living in. If there is anything (without them mentioning in the ad) that she would be interested in, have her call and ask if they would consider a Section 8 voucher. Sometimes landlords don't even think of Section 8's. If she has a good rental record, they might consider going Section 8 for her. Best of luck.

You do realize that housing voucher is only good for the county it was issued in. You cannot use it for an apt in another county Dept of Housing that issues the vouchers has a list of all eligible apartments

I am not familiar with this area, but hopefully you realize she can not move outside of the issuing county. If she is approved for Clevelands county she can not go elsewhere, the funds are issued by county. Your best bet would be to find 2 bedroom places that are renting at or below your maximum amount allowed and simply call them. Ask, "Do you accept Section 8?" Maybe they are willing (there is more to it then you think) or maybe not. Asking does not hurt. Do not bother is the rent is higher though, most will not be willing to both lower the rental amount and deal with the HA.
