Patent and Trademark Office
Question
Does the order of the following actions matter, when setting up a small business?
I'm making a side project of mine into a small business, since I expect to be able to make a profit off of it. I believe I need to do the following things: * Apply to the Federal Govt for an EID number * Register my small business (LLC) to my state * Apply to trademark the business' name and logo with the US Patent and Trademark Office * Create a bank account for the small business Are there any critical steps that I'm missing? Does the order of these actions matter? One step I forgot to list: * Assert my business as a "small entity" for trademark/patent purposes

You don't need to do any of those things for a startup. My suggestion would be to start trading in your own name, see how it goes, and if it's getting successful then you can spend money on LLC, trademarks etc. It seems overkill at this early stage.
