Question
I need help with starting my own pet sitting business?
I am looking to start up my own business doing dog walking, cat/small animal feeding, animal boarding etc. and I'd like some info on what I may need. The list I have so far is: insurance (public liability I think!?) a CRB check so people know I'm safe to have in their house etc? marketing material - cards/leaflets etc I need to research prices in my area and set my prices I'm at a loss as to what else I may need - I really do want to make a go of things, I have a dog and three cats and am experience with other small animals - but sadly, I'm just a bit pants at the business aspect. TIA.

If you're in the UK, contact your local Business Link. They offer free help and advice on starting up and will be able to guide you through all the things that you need. As well as public liability, you may need professional indemnity. This covers you if a client feels you've done something that has harmed their pet while it's in your care. Public liability covers you for the animal doing something to someone else while it's in your care. Good luck!
