You'll probably have to have your mom go with you since you're under 21. Usually it takes someone to sign with you since you're only 17.

The best bet is go with your moms until you're 18. This way you can build up some funds into the checking. Also if you saving about $500 by the time you're 18, you should be able to convert into a secured credit card. Bank of America should be able to set it up for you and double check that they belong to the credit bureau. You should use it for gas and small items and always pay the balance when the statement comes in

The amount of money that you need to start off with will vary from bank to bank- so see what it is that Bank of America wants, and follow their guidelines. A debit account is a checking account- so you will need to set up your own checking account with Bank of America in order to have a debit card. You may need your mom to cosign on the account, since you are still a minor- but if she is willing to do this, then you will probably be able to have your own account:)

hello , First you have to open a bank account (checking that is ) all you have to do then is ask the bank for a debit card for that account .If you get one please remember that all you charge to that card comes out of that account . You have to pay close attention or you will over draw your account and then you will have all kinds of fees and charges ending up in having no money or even owing the bank money for these things .So what ever you do please be care full dear . To save yourself some charges and fees use your card as a credit card there are less if no fees using it that way , that is how mine works anyway . Good luck in getting started .
