Question
Rent due on Friday June 5th?
Ok, I'm stressed to the max. I just had a baby (she'll be two months on Monday) and went back to work last week. My husband got laid off of work a couple of months ago and was receiving unemployment and all of a sudden it stopped. He is supposed to be getting it for three more months. He has tried calling, but they say they are behind and they will call him back. No one is hiring where we live and he has looked EVERYWHERE and I am getting laid off for the summer this Friday coming. I work for a school district and am not eligible for unemployment because I have a guaranteed job. My rent is due on Friday and I do not have enough to pay it as well as PG&E. On top of that, I haven't paid any credit cards due to lack of money and am getting harassed like crazy. I set up car washes for next weekend and am selling my computer. Any other ideas on ways to raise money fast? Oh and I can't receive welfare because I have a guaranteed job.

Cancel anything you can. TV subscriptions, cell phones/homeline (maybe just the homeline?, internet (libraries give free internet access, you just need a library card) can you sell any of your cars? Things to consider to sell: printer tv dvd player DVDs chairs just look around your house. is there anything at all that you could sell and live without? maybe getting a small fridge to lower your PG&E bill... use dishwasher/clothes washer less ..(yes less washing).

Talk with your landlord or company that rents to you and explain the situation. If your upfront and honest with them allot of time they will work with you .

I agree with the poster named "Hello". Look around your house and you'll be amazed to find what all you can actually live without. It wont be easy or comfortable, but you could even sell your bedroom set and sleep on the matress on the floor. Do you have any paintings hanging on the wall? Old sets of China that you keep stored away? Sell your dining room set if you have to. You can list all these things on CraigsList for free to local buyers so there's no shipping involved. Put up ads to babysit 2 or 3 kids at a time in your home. (You dont need a daycare license if you're only caring for a few kids). Or offer to sit at their home if need be. Put out an ad to do housecleaning, auto detailing, pet sitting, dog walking, or maybe a sitter for an elderly person. You dont need a license to visit a lonely person, wash their dishes, change their bed linens, take them to WalMart, or run their errands.....lots of family members pay well to have someone check in on their elderly parents once or twice a day. If you can sew, put out an ad for sewing and ironing services. I've seen single working men pay people to do their laundry and ironing.....you could take it all to a laundromat and get reimbursed for your quarters when he pays you. Think of something that you're good at and find a way to make money from it. Mow lawns if you have to! In the meantime, check around your town for local charities that may be able to help you for a while. Our town's electrical company has a program where people voluntarily sign up to have a little extra money added to their bill to help other people who cant pay theirs. See if PG&E has anything like that. Visit your local food bank instead of the grocery store. Do you belong to a church? If so, ask for their help. That's about all I can think of. Hang in there....things have to get better because they cant get much worse.
