Question

Small Business Insurance Question.?

I have a small business and work out of one of the bedrooms of my condo My storefront is a virtual storefront. I do have a stock of inventory. I need to get insurance to cover the things I need for my business. I have looked at an insurance policy and it automatically includes many things that do not seem to apply to my business, such as the building, emergency cost of the fire department, liability for people at my business, and many other physical things that my homeowner's insurance on the building and the addititional personal homeowner's insurance covers. Customers do not come to my home. The policy obvioully was designed to cover an office outside the home. Does anyone know of a good insurance company where I could purchase insureance that would be more applicable to my business? mbrcatz thank you for your answer. I am not looking for cheap insurance. I am just looking for a policy more suited to my needs. As in the resturant analagy, I do not want to pay for extra bread and butter when I already have a plate full of it. I do understand where customization can be more costly. mbrcatz thank you for your answer. I am not looking for cheap insurance. I am just looking for a policy more suited to my needs. Sure, any local agent can do that. The PROBLEM is, the PRICING goes up through the roof, if you insist on cafeteria style coverages. So. Do you want INEXPENSIVE coverage, that includes things that you don't need (btw, liability doesn't limit itself to people at your house, it typically includes product liability for the things you sell)? Or would you rather pay 2 - 4X as much, for a custom policy with not as much coverage on it? Usually when people complain to me about extra coverages, what they're REALLY saying is, I want cheaper insurance. When you go to a restaurant, if you don't eat the bread or use the butter pats or the sugar & sweet & low, or salt & pepper, it doesn't mean you're paying less for your meal. The package meal deal is still usually the cheapest. Same thing for packaged insurance products.

Contact a local Nationwide Insurance agent. I'm sure he/she can design a small business policy to fit your particular need.

You need a business in the home policy. Call your insurance agent that has your homeowners insurance and ask for a business in the home policy. It's usually pretty cheap.
