Question
Where can i get credit bureau phone numbers?
I am trying to contact all three major credit bureaus. I am trying to dispute an item on my credit report. All the numbers i have for all 3 are just recorded messages. So i am unable to talk to a real person. Does anybody have the numbers or know where i can find them?

Everyone is right calling is a waste of time. Even if you do speak to a person, they will just tell you the proper procedure to file a dispute, they like everybody else needs to have "written" documentation. There is a standard procedure to dispute entries on ones credit report. These guidelines are provided by the FTC at the following link www ... Simply follow the proper procedures and you should get this resolved in a timely fashion. I have used this method and have had excellent results in under 30 days Hope this helps answer your question.

This link provides instructions for bypassing almost any recorded message to get to a real person. Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union are listed. I gave them all because others may want to know how.

Don't waste your time calling....even if you can get a real person they have about 54 seconds to devote to each caller... Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act you have the right to request written validation of negative entries on your credit files. Per this law they must validate the item(s) within 30 days or remove them from your credit file. Mail a letter via certified mail with return receipt to all three credit bureaus (Equifax, TransUnion & Experian). Include a photocopy of your driver's license and social security card...If you don't include these, they may write back requesting them, which would slow the process down by several weeks. For each negative item, write a separate letter and simply include the phrase: Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act, I am requesting written validation of this item.

Don't waste your time. Send the credit bureau a letter with the details of your dispute. All the customer service person will do is take a message. You really won't get better service or faster action.

On Trans Union call them toll free @ 1800-916-8800. On the top of the reports there should be a reference # type that in after you make the call and that will transfer to a live person// Equitfax: 1-800-525-6285 then type in their reference #// Experian 1-888-397-3742, type in your area code
