Question

Financing question! Please read!!....?

Has anyone ever heard of a finance company called AFP Service Center? I bought a truck from a little buy here/pay here place (I'll call it "Joes") in 2007. In early 2008, I got a letter saying that Joes wouldn't accept payments anymore...that a company out of Florida was handling their payments. When I called the place in Florida, they said "yes, we're handling Joes payments now but don't send any money now because you're not in the system yet." SO..I wait a month & never hear anything. I call Joes back & they say "oh, you're supposed to make your payments here." OK...I will. THEN Joes files for bankruptcy & shuts down. I was told that a company called AFP Service Center has taken over the accounts & that I'm supposed to make my payments at ANOTHER small car lot in the town I live in. I've never got anything in the mail from AFP. When I asked the woman at the car lot where I'm now making payments where AFP's central office was, she said "I'm really not sure...Maryland, maybe?" Does this sound fishy to anyone? ANY help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

for your sake and finances call an attorney, it will save you in the end. I know of several cases where people bought vehicles the same way you did, the company folds and you are told to make payments to someone else. What has happened in the cases I know about is the people made all of their payments, they didn't get the titles to the vehicle and a repo company came and took the vehicles. It took a very good attorney to get these straightened out. Don't let it turn into a nightmare for you.

Sounds very questionable, this is why you should only buy cars from dealerships rather than small little shops. I would call a attorney and advise them so they can give you some good advice.
