Is having a small fireplace in the middle of the living room worth it ?

I am planning to buy a home and only thing which I personally don't like is a firewall place in the middle of the room. Its like an extension to the wall. Its like "T" Not sure as if the firewall a real home value or it keeps the price up. Do you guys think I have to leave it like that or get rid of it ? How much would it usually cost.( 4ft height / 3.ft length)
