Question
what the heck are the 2009 form 1040-ES payment vouchers for on Turbotax? I have to pay the 1040-V?
I got a form for one lump sum amount as a payment voucher to send into the IRS, but then I have about (4) 1040-ES forms too with different dates due on each form. The 4 vouchers say 2009 1040-ES on them, but the one for this year 1040-V payment voucher (lump sum amount) says 2008. I am confused! Are the 2009 vouchers obsolete if paying in a lump sum on the 1040-V for 2008?

The 1040-V is for 2008 tax that you owe. The -ES forms are for payment of quarterly estimated tax for your 2009 income if you expect to make about the same amount as you did in 2008.

Since you owe for 2008, TurboTax is assuming that you will owe the same amount on your 2009 return next year and so it kicked out the 1040-ES vouchers. If you are going to have your withholdings adjusted so that you won't owe next year, you can discard the 1040-EX vouchers.
