Is this a good time to buy land or house in Texas?

Question

I am 51 years old and planning to hopefully retire in Texas in about 10-15 years. Am I right that Texas has no income taxes? Or is it property taxes? But I know it's one of the good states to retire. If so, is this a good time to buy land or a house in Texas? I live in Indiana now. If I bought property now, what would I do with it? I don't want to rent it out and have the property trashed. I don't have any experience with stuff like that. So if I bought a house now what will I do with it for 10-15 years?

Shame its not Texas in Queensland Australia.the market is very good there for buyers.
