Question

Architects! I neep answers for school!?

Hello, my name is Ruben Gomez. I live in Provo Utah and was wondering if you could take some time to help me out with a school project. I need to get an interview with someone in the architecture field and after looking online for someone I came onto your email address. If its not too much trouble i just need you to answer some questions about your career. Please, if you can get back to me soon that would be great. Here are the questions: 1. What is a typical day like for you? 2. What are the best aspects of this profession? 3. What are the least desirable aspects of this profession? 4. Who are the major employers of people in this field? 5. What does it take to succeed? 6. What educational background is required? 7. Are there related jobs? 8. What professional organizations or associations are affiliated with this career? 9. Are there any hot topics or controversial issues associated with this career? 10. Are there any magazines or periodicals that people in this field typically read? 11. Are there any books, tv shows, or movies that adequately portray people in this profession? 12. What does the future hold for this particular career? 13. What kind of quality of life does this career afford? If its not too much trouble it would be great if you could help me out. THANK YOU SO MUCH! and if you can't help me out i understand. thanks for your time and enjoy your day.

1. Answering emails and phone calls, meet with clients and consultants whether by phone or in person, update project schedules and payments, draw like crazy until 1am. 2. same as above, it's what we love to do. We're living a dream. 3. dealing with the business side of the practice. Getting clients to pay, dealing with employee issues, and paying taxes. 4. privateers, since I'm a small company, I get projects from the private sector. But in general, many of the large projects out there are public entities. 5. desire, dedication, and determination. The sacrifice towards success is substantial, most people are not ready to give of so much. You will need to work countless hours with no immediately rewards. 6. You will most likely need a professional degree. That's either a 5 year Bachelor program or a 6 year Bachelor and Masters program. There are always exceptions, you can see the requirements of your State in www.ncarb.org 7. Construction, Planning, Law (zoning & construction), business. 8. American Institute of Architects, NCARB, LEED, AP, Local State Board. 9. recession, green technology. 10. Dwell, Traditional Homes, etc, go to Borders or Barnes and Noble, they have an entire section devoted to architecture. 11. Architect? A Candid Guide to the Profession by Roger K. Lewis 12. Future is always bright for those with talent. 13. Quality of life is horrible for the first 5 years, or up until you get alot of experience in the field. it gets better, unless you plan to go into business for yourself, then you will not have time to breath for the next four years. Keep in mind money does not equate to happiness or fulfillment. When I was a partner in a firm, I made fairly good money, but I didn't have any time to enjoy any of it. At the end, my family paid the price for it.
