Question
A murder occured in my apartment complex on Christmas day. On New Years Eve all the residents were evicted ..?
We all have until the last day of this month to move. I live in a small, country town and good apartments are hard to find ...especially in a hurry! I have one place that is likely, but they are taking forever to process the paper work. I have a back up plan, but it is a miserable one. Six days left! What should I do?

you should check the landlord tenent agreement in your area, it is a government document. in my area, landlords need to give you 3 months notice to move out. Check it and bring it to the attention of the city if you need to.

First of all I would see a lawyer help for being evicted. You can sued for emotional distress from the unfortunate event that occurred. The situation was out of your hands and no one should be put in that situation. Please seek a lawyers help and find out your options. You can seek government help with housing or apartment housing.

I believe all 50 states in the US have rental laws that require the landlord give at least 30 to 60 day notice to evict, even if no reason is needed. Many cities have strict rent control laws that need a valid reason to evict tenants. Check your local and state rental laws.
