Question
Are personal heaters be allowed in the office?
I work in a small office, and we share our cubicles with another co-worker so basically we are back to back. Anyway the lady I share my space with has a personal heater she keeps under her desk. My problem is is that she keeps that thing on all day long (8 hrs) and I get so overwhelmed with the heat that It affects my work. I just can not focus, and I get headache's. I make comments out load that Im hot, and she does nothing. She just lets the heater run on. Are these things even allowed in the office, and can I do anything to keep her from using it? What do I do I cant take it anymore!!??

ask your boss if it's allowed. then call the fire marshals office to see if it's allowed. she shouldn't have to run it for 8 hrs solid. or should turn it down and bring a lap blanket to use

Tell your boss your having a hard time doing your work becaues it's always so hot, don't say anything about that personal heater, let Let him wonder why it is so hot and maybe he will go investigate it and tell the other lady it's getting to hot. That way you don't have to get involved.

Have you *asked* her to turn it down? Or to aim it in another direction? Or to leave it on for a little while and then shut it off until the heat dissipates? Have you asked to be transferred to another cubicle? There are many possible solutions to this problem. Try to work out a mutually acceptable one.
