Bankruptcy 1995
Question
HUD Neighborhood Stabilization Program Grants?
Hey guys, How do I get HUD grants? I heard that HUD lately is more open to giving home grants to individuals or organizations to help stabilize the current economy and flurry of foreclosures. I know they have a NSP, Neighborhood Stabilization Program, that has billions ready to help U.S. citizens to buy, renovate and finally sell or live in a home. So where exactly do I apply for this? My family would be more than happy to live in a house again since we claimed bankruptcy in 1995. Thanks for any advice or links. Please do not advertise those schemes : ] Warm Regards, Jason Xiao

HUD is using the grant money to buy, fix and then resell foreclosed homes in distressed (high crime) neighborhoods. They will only sell them to owner occupied buyers, with the theory, which appears to be true, that homeowners make better neighbors then renters. Check out the HUD.gov site to see if there are HUD homes in your area available. They have links to lenders there as well. While you will not get a grant yourself, the grant puts more homes available to low income families.
