It is very competitive to get an internship form Deloitte and Touche. Of course you will have to go through an interview process, and they would like to see your previous work experience. Honestly, community service is great on a resume, but many people have that. They want to see your professional work experience in the real world, and every college business student are required to take the same classes that you have already taken. I would recommend getting more experience in the real world. Try getting smaller business internships first to build your professional background and leadership experience. Join clubs and be involved in school such as a club officer, committee member. Get a job related to the area of business your interested in. Good Luck!

My buddy got one. He said it was all about GPA and accounting classes. Very competitive. He hated it by the way. Very long hours and a crappy corporate environment. I guess as a first job it's ok, but not a place you'd want to spend more than a year. If you don't want to be an accountant, don't do it! (Also I think they only take Interns after their Jr year). Not positive on that though.)

Hi . . The big firms generally want you into your active study work of becoming an accountant. However, they are great places to work to see what the accounting world can ultimately be in that large corporate setting. You might consider approaching a smaller firm (with under 15 employees) that would encourage you to work part time while you are in school and full time when you are able to and not attending school full time. Also, going into the big firms and just asking the question of what they are looking for is always a good idea. There are differences between them. All the best to you in your journey ~ no matter what the economy is doing ~ we always need accountants.
