How is HIPAA(Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) related to computers and technology?
I have to re-search how Hipaa is related to computers and technology! How is HIPPA implemented into the technology we use in our hospitals and doctor offices today? I know there are a number of ways but I dont know where to start, can anyone help me?

This is a tough question. I think that one way HIPAA has effected computers and techonology is through requiring all computers/stations to be locked when not in use, and requiring a password to log on. Access to information that you do not need is being more restricted, and a lot of sytems now keep track of all the information you review to make sure you only use it for business reasons.
