Small Business Loan Scams
Question
AUTO loan details refund on my warranty !.....please help!?
I have a question pertaining to a truck i bought on october 18th 2008. I bought this truck for about 7500 with a drive train warranty for 1700.00. Dont focus on the price so much as they worked the numbers down on the truck but included the warranty to get the price that the bank would approve. But on 2nd look after a week or so i realized that 1700.00 for a 2 year drive train warranty was rather worthless .Drive train rarely goes bad on newer vehicles, its the smaller things that have problems. Ok,so bear with me....so i called the warranty co,mastertech and they had no record of my warranty yet . They told me i have 60 days to get a refund which i already knew. They told me to go ask for a better warranty or ask for a refund.I talsked to the business manager an i signed a cancellation letter but he told me he may be able to get me a ford extra care warranty for same price .he did an i agreed. 2 weeks later ford esp still had no record of my warranty.last week i talked to my dealer he told me there was a problem.tuesday of this week he told me ford esp wouldnt actually approve a 2 year extra care warranty but would a 1 year for 1300. i said just give me the refund an lets be done with it. he said ok,i still have your cancellation letter an it will be applied to your loan within 30 days. Im wonderin if he is workin with a slight of hand. Is there something i dont know that he can string me along an then all the sudden i cant get a refund? with refunds theres no 3 day grace period. pretty much all warrantys have a 60 day refund policy. There is a fact though that he never actually turned in a warranty for my truck .He has just been hee hawwing around. I never actually ever signed a warranty. i have a warranty paper an my finance paper has a spot that says master tech warranty 1700.00 but i dont have one. i have emailed the business agent probably 7 times regardling me getting some kind of confirmation but he always says he will get me soemthing but never does. Today i wrote up a nice lettter in "word" and emailled it to him.I sent the same letter certified mail an im going to fax him the same letter verifying an confirming i cancelled a warranty an want a full refund just for my own sake. at least i ahve some sort of proof. They are a very good dealership in town an i dont see them tryin to be that fishy but you never know. my next step would be to call the bank an ask them to get involved or at leats get a lawyer to send a letter on my behalf but id rather not go there. please give advice/opinions. in short.i bought a truck 7 weeks ago told i had a 1700 warranty but it was never sent in. told i had another warranty but it was never sent in. told it was being cancelled but he didnt give me confirmation so i sent a cancelltion letter i wrote up cetrified mail/fax an email. i figure he will get one of them at least am i harrassing? i am not mean im very nice just tryin to get answers? is there anything else i can do? is it a car dealer scam that i am unaware of? Thanks

I think I would file a complaint with the federal commission the dealer \complaint Consumer Response Center 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20580 Phone: 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357) TTY: 1-866-653-4261 You are getting a run around

Yep, you are getting the run around. #1, no reputable bank would condition your truck loan based on a warranty. #2, it only takes 24-48 hrs for the warranty issuing company to register your vehicle. I would also recommend not only going thru your states consumer protection office, but also make personal contact with the finance & insurance and demand a refund in person. If that doesn't help, go to the dealer owner himself. Then go above him & contact the factory dealer rep that handles complaints between the dealer and the factory (in this case, he could help since the warranty is thru Ford esp). Good luck!!
