Owning Data in MY Social Network?

I plan on starting a social network. I have a great idea that I know hasn't been tapped into yet. In the end I can see it being bought out by another company. My main question is, I need to own the database and data in the social network. By this I mean I need to be able to access the data and the database. While planning on using NING.com for the host, I found out that they may own the data and the site, and I cannot access it. The main reason I want this is because if a company comes to me to buy my Network, I need to be able to provide them with all the data and user data. So what hosts allow me to own EVERYTHING and access EVERYTHING in my social network? Is this possible with a host, or would I have to spend 100's of thousands of dollars building my own? I also want to be able to access the data to narrow down to certain people of certain hobbies, goals, etc for events and things like that. That is another reason I want to have access to that data.
