rent to owns are suicide in the making. what happens when the owner stops making his mortgage payments and you get evicted losing all your money or his lender finds out he does not live there anymore and calls his mortgage due

Rent-to-own is nearly banned in Texas. It's fine in other states, but Texas has some very, very strict limitations on it. So be very careful of any rent-to-own offerings in Texas.
