Can you help me brainstorm ideas for an ad for a local cafe?

I am an ad designer for direct mail advertising coupons and I have to design an ad for a locally owned breakfast cafe. I already have a photo of their family and a breakfast platter to be included in the ad but I want to put something faded into the background that is quaint and cute, but plain so it doesn't get too messy. Any ideas of a certain style of background that would look good on this type of ad? No reason to get defensive please, I have been doing this for over 3 years and have developed some unique ideas in the past but even a great artist gets blocked sometimes! I am looking to get opinions from the public masses who would be looking at an ad like this.
