Question

Is the free model sustainable?

These days a lot of services are free and more in pipeline. Email, web space, social networks, video, online storage, chat, sms, and lot others. All these services once needed the customer to pay. Software is also free! Do you believe these 'free' products and services will continue to exist or they will fade away? What is the justification of your opinion? Thanks for your replies.

In theory, business gets cheaper every single day. Cheaper till the point where it is free. Then, business people have to find other ways to make money. And its an ongoing process where the business person has to keep changing. And sometimes, they dont change in time, or dont know what to change into. So thats why in the business world, past performance does not predict future successes. This is the model of the future. There were things that costed 10k a month back in the days. Now those services are free. And whole companies have been destroyed because of the "free" ide. Look at Netscape. It was a 575 million dollar company before it collapsed. And Bill Gates made a pretty penny giving his stuff for free. And in the future, things that are costing you money now, may become free in the future.
