Question
Can you sell word or excel 'templates' on the internet?
If I was to create a document in MS word, say a calender template, put it on my own website and charge a fee to download a copy, am I breaking any laws? Would Microsoft come after me for a fee? Am I infringing any copyright?

No, as long as the template didn't infringe upon any copyright laws.

no. You can do that, and there are a few companies that do. As long as you say what the template is for and that MS owns the trademarks. They own the file format, but you own the data.

No, you wouldn't be liable for any fees to MS. I used to work for a website that created all these types of downloads. Just make sure you put in the Properties of each document your name & company, etc.
