Entrepreneur Magazine
Question
Please help me with my writer's block?
I'm a new writer for a lifestyle magazine. My boss has asked me to write a text for a certificate that he wants to present the lady (an entrepreneur) who was on our magazine's front cover last week. He said she might want to display it on the wall in her restaurant out of gratitude. That the cert needs to look really nice. I seem to have a mental block. Is there anywhere I can find a sample? Help?

Just say that your magazine is recognizing her as a leader in her field, or something like that. Certificates are about recognition, gratitude, completion or award. Otherwise, try to convince your boss to mock up a copy of the article and frame it for her. She would probably display that.

Don't do the normal story where you praise her and praise her again. If you can't think of something, talk to anyone who knows her. What do they really say about her. You don't have to mention their names. Talk to people who are walking out of the restaurant. Real people. Don't tell them who you are, tho. THen start writing. Who cares if you make mistakes. Go ahead.
