Question
How do I cash a cheque from HM Revenue & Customs if I am not in the UK?
Hi mates, I got a tax repayment cheque from the HM Revenue & Customs. However I don't have a bank account in the UK. I have an account of Switzerland, but they don't accept my cheque because it is not issued by a bank. How can I get my cash? Thanks!

Since when did a cheque have to be written by a bank? I would question your bank on this as your cheque if from her Majesty's government and they are highly unlikely to renege on it

I highly surprised .. some-one must have 'ticked' the wrong box .. these days ALL UK Government payments are by direct Bank transfer UNLESS the recipient (or their agent) specifically asks for a cheque .... Best I can suggest is send it back along with your bank account details (SWIFT/IBAN code)
