Question
Why does my daughter have to suffer because my landlord does not want to do anything? Family life is in danger
Hello my name is Amira Boyd, I am a mother of a disabled child who, works full-time and goes to school. I have wrote my landlord over 100 complaint emails. Nothing is being done. The problems that are going on in the building are,The very first day I moved in to my apartment was illegally entered by a member from management having a key since then my apartment has been illegally entered twice by other members of management they took advantage of the faulty surveillance camera and the missing door chain which had not been installed prior to my moving in management new and has done nothing 2 After moving in I have lived for 2 weeks without hot water or a working mail box management new and has done nothing 3 I have lived without heat for one whole month management new and has done nothing 4 People have been shot and murdered in front of my daughters bedroom window on 3 occasions This is a high crime drug infested area, and the building security camera were never on and currently remain off. management new and has done nothing 5 The outside stair cases are old ,rusting, corroded and disfigured with a missing arm rail. my daughter uses this stair walk way management new and has done nothing 6 This is a high crime drug infested area and yet, a male drug addict illegally jammed leaving the emergency exit door open for over 2 years management and the illegal superintendent new and has done nothing 7 Drug addicts are loitering inside and outside of the building lobby & stair way management new and done nothing 8 A drug addict living within the building has made cash exchanged with a tenant from a small child was in the lobby at the time management new and has done nothing 9 An illegal immigrant lives and works as building superintendent at #1B and management new his alleged wife continuously harasses me using other tenants to sometimes assist her. management new and has done nothing 10 The super continuously worked outside my daughter bedroom window hammering after 9 pm management new and did nothing 11 My lease was signed by my self and spouse, I sent it off and hasn't yet been returned to me it is well over 60 days now management new and has done nothing 12 The illegal immigrant superintendent has tampered with my utilities on 2 occasions management new and has done nothing 14 After sending my first complain to management I was harassed by Jordan Zotts for several months management new and has done nothing 15 I phone the police concerning the supers involvement with door menacing in response Jordan Zotts offered comfort to the supers wife and literally ignored my family's concerns. following further harassment. 16 The supers name and phone number has never been posted in the building in accordance with multiple dwelling housing laws management new and has done nothing. 17 The supers alleged wife has been running illegal day care service within her apartment at #1B management new and has done nothing. 18 The supers alleged wife visits a tenant across the hall in #1C to hide from Con Ed and other agency's needing access to the basement utilities management new and has done nothing. 19 Jordan Zotts has been discussing private information to the supers alleged wife a letter concerning this management new and has done nothing. 20 I have demanded to now the first and last names -telephone number of the illegal immigrant /superintendent living next door to me. my request was denied management new and has done nothing. 21 There is absolutely no reason in which you need to speak with me to correct violations and safety issues which has long been in existence before and after I moved in to the building. 22 I am sick of walking pass loitering drug addicts within and around the building. And I am sick of playing games with management My daughter and I are constantly being woken up every night by the drug addicts yelling out side and in the lobby while visiting another drug addict who lives up stairs. My husband watches over me to make sure I am not being harassed by The super or the drug whom they associated with. Since the super have moved in my blood pressure has risen. and I receive medication while trying to focus on my health, family and school. Concerning Jordan Zotts . You have already expressed how you feel about my family's enjoyment and safety. You have loudly loitered in front of my apartment discussing annoying nonsense You continued to both privately and openly discussed my affairs with an illegal migrant after you were told to stop. You and the super have continuously slammed doors causing my daughter to shake and jump she suffers from autism and is sensitive to unnecessary loud noises. You retaliated against me on my way to work for sending a complaint urging that the supers wife stop menacing in my affairs. You've ignored me for months both before and after I phoned the police due to the supers wife menacing & harassing me. You then joked and made fun of the matter while openly disusing it in front of my apartment for me to here, you did this in the company of the supers wife, your self and a female tenant from across the hall from apartment #1D. To make matters worst you began appearing almost everyday at un reasonable hours from 6 and 9 pm Your arrival was noisy noticeable and annoying. the supers wife would yell out loud in constant lafter each time you arrived. Then on Sunday, March 02, 2008, at 11:24:54 PM you were video taped and photographed with the super moving objects in and out of there apartment in to a van. My daughter and I awakened from the constant loud noises. this was my husbands birth day and I had to wake up to this. that next morning I suffered from a bad head ache which was unfortunately because march 3 was my anniversary. The problems in the building are still going on and are getting worse. I have continuously have contacted the landlord about the problems but the landlord does nothing, but tell the super and the super tells the other teants. Now I am in fear for my daughter and my life. Two days ago, I was approached by two tenants who live in my building. Each of the tenants threatened my life. I called the police and they do nothing. I have been praying everyday and putting my faith in god, but my family is still being bothered.Yes, I am trying to move but money is not that easy for me right now. The main question is why can't the landlord stop the problems? Why can't the landlord and the other tenants stop harassing me? This is really hurting me because I done nothing wrong. My daughter who is 9 years old and disabled and has done nothing wrong. Why must my family be subjected to this kind of treatment? I am just trying to work and go to school and raise my daughter. I have been trying to keep my faith, but it just feels that my prays are not being answered. My daughter is innocent. Why must she have to suffer? I have went to the police continuously but they do nothing. I have even wrote the governor but he just refered me to another agency, that did nothing. I have even called 311. Where do I turn?

i know that with a disabled child it can be MEGA hard, but you need to put all your faith in God. If you think moving would solve this problem, do it! that is probably the only way you can get away from all this. I'm really sorry about it all, but its good that you believe in God. Just keep on praying. He will make a way. :D I wish the best for you and your daughter. God Bless. -emily

i didnt finish reading all of your numbers, but once i got to the drug infested area part I wondered why YOU put your daughter in danger in the first place. YOU chose this place, they didnt force you there. YOU had the chance to see all the problems before you moved in. Obviously its a bad living situation-move out? why have you been there so long??? i would have moved out within days, there wouldnt be any penalties because the living conditions are illegal. move out, stop being a bad mother and find somewhere for you daughter to live thats safe even if you cant be there

You need to get out of the ghetto. Find a smaller place in a better part of town. if you got drug dealers in the halls it's no wonder the landlord doesn't care. Simply put, move out. Also the past tense of the verb to know is knew. New is the opposite of old.

The answer is simple...move BEFORE your daughter is dangered in any other way. It is more than obvious that you are not the only one with complaints, but they dont have the job of being your daughter's guardian. It is YOUR job to get out of there! I know that maybe your finances led you to where you are, but you really need to explore better neighborhoods and possible another state where the rents are cheaper and affordable. If no one is listening to you, apparently there is a building full of unanswered complaints and you are just a needle in the haystack! Get out NOW, before your daughter is a casualty of the landlord's negligence.

Very long question. If I was that situation, heres what I would do. For #9 I would call Immigration. And for the rest you could sue management. Just a thought.

I would get a lawyer. Attourneys have ways of getting things done that average people don't know about. Sue the hell out of the property owner and either he will fix any and all of your problems or you will get a cash settlement which should be enough to at least move to a better place.

In the time it took you to type this, you could have found another place to live. Your daughter has to suffer because "YOU" knew (and still do) all of these things, and chose to ignore her well being and safety. Someone should remove your child from an environment that you obviously aren't willing to remove her from.

When you first walked up the steps of this building 90% of the problems you cite would have been obvious to a blind woman. You were extraordinarily derelict in your parental responsibilities to even move in, much less stay more than a couple days. I would be very curious what you were thinking. The answer is to pack up your stuff and move. And don't complain how difficult that is. You were able to move in, you are able to move out. Sorry if this sounds harsh but posts like this leave me shaking my head in wonderment.

Was your lease signed by the landlord? If not that may be your way out. If it wasn't signed by the landlord or by someone of management then the lease isn't binding. I would go to your district attorney's office and talk to them about what is going on in your building. Messing with your utilities, entering the apartment without prior notice, and having the name and phone number not posted are against the law. You could possible sue them. But first you definetly need to move out of there. If you don't have the money for the security deposit for another place ask family or friends if you could borrow the money. At this point it is time to contact the district attorney of your city or either a lawyer who will do it for free(pro bono) and move out of there. Then if the lawyers say you have a case against them then you can move out with out owing management anything right away (maybe nothing, if you win the case). If they don't think that you have a case, I would still move out anyways, you can eventually pay them off. You have to get your child into a safer environment.

You lost me with all of the "illegal immigrant" crap. How would you know any ones status? I skipped to the bottom, you have gone do far to whine to the Governor and still no one is doing anything. They are not doing anything because you are the problem, there isn't anything they can do. You need to seek a mental health professional. You owe it to your daughter to get help for yourself.

Move......full fill your child's needs and make that your priority. Go to your school counselor or church and ask for assistance in finding another residence. Contact children with disabilites programs and apply for a house. You have done enough complaining and you are admirable for your attempt to resolve the problem but it has not worked and you need to put that passionate energy to use to find better living conditions for your daughter. Make your only agenda Moving..... Good Luck To You..............

Please discuss within your family, and move out of existing place. You have to locate your self a better dwelling, may be smaller but safe locality. Consider your need thoroughly. With all the Best.
