I'm starting a fun website business- I need your opinion!?

I've designed a "pet" site in which basically I will be selling ad spaces for people selling their pets. My question is how should I accept payment? I've had a very bad experience with paypal, so I don't really want to use them. I am going to get a PO box for people to send the payment. What payment types should I offer that are safe? I was thinking money orders or certified checks, but I don't think that is a whole lot of options. Thanks!
