-I'm single, no dependants -my adjusted gross income is $5,640 -5,384 of that is from unemployment compensation

No, you won't. Unemployment comp isn't eligible income for the stimulus payment - you had to have $3000 in qualifying income and you didn't.

Luckily for for though, the stimulous is just an advancement on a new one-time 2008 tax credit. So if you work this year(2008) and make 3000+, you will be able to claim this on your next tax return and get either 300 or 600 credit on your next return. On your next return You will figure this credit and subtract your stimulous check from it.... If the stimulous check is more than what you would have gotten you keep the difference. I know next year I will be able to get $300 more because I was only able to get the $300 but I will make a lot more this year and will be able to claim an additional $300 credit.
