Question

Is my direct mailing a failure?

I sent out a direct mailing of 5,000 color postcards to all bars/clubs/lounges and restaurants in my area and were hoping for a 1% response. It is a full color postcard advertisement to try a free trial of our employee scheduling system for making employee shift schedules, notifying employees and tracking labor costs. It was professionaly made and I thought it looked great and described a lot of good features. We sent them out in the mail last week Friday... We had one person sign up for the free trial on Tuesday, one on Wednesday and nothing else. Has this mailing been a complete failure or is it still too soon to start seeing results?

I think your targeting was flawed. Unless I'm reading it wrong your campaign sounds like it's more geared to upper management types and those that set schedules for employees correct? Unless your bars/clubs/lounges were more of the upper/middle class and white collar variety you're not hitting your target group. Restaurants isn't a bad idea as long as it's a white collar place where the customers have to wait to be seated therefore allowing them to read postcards and the like that are pinned to the walls. Otherwise try again but at Bistro's, nice coffee houses and other places where middle and upper management types go.

umm i think it's too early to tell... how about advertising on news papers as well... and contacting people who are in the software business... maybe they can help you sell your stuff... but i think i have seen a lot of that scheduling system out there already...

Followup with a phone call. Be ready to shoot them a link to your website because they might of forgotten about the postcard.

Hi There, Good Post! I love everything about business, escpecially the marketing and advertising parts. These things make or break a business. I've found many ways to advertise my business that might help you. If you have a website, try SEO and PPC (pay per click from Google Adwords). If you advertise your business offline, try handing out flyers, printing coupons, and yellowpage advertising). The best method I've found yet is to buy business cards and hand them out everwhere. I buy them from a place online that gives the cards for free and only charges for shipping and handling. I hand these out to everyone I meet, and I leave them on cars where ever I go (I also got a free business card holder that looks really impressive)! www ... Take care and good luck with your business!
