Question
owning a small business and stress?
I own and operate a small landscape co. and lately thing are not goin my way. Last year I injured my back, therapy, drugs, etc. and only have minor relief. This season started with a stomach issue, dont know if its stress/anxiety or if its major. Doctor sent me for a CT scan and it said Minor inflammation of the colon, mild enlarged periarotic lymph node, and then he did a stool test and found no blood, so he says its not too serious. I am worried about my health and my business and cant even think straight. Business is so SLOW this year and the budget is as tight as I can get it. I just DREAD goin to work everyday with my ailments and knowing the business is slow. Ive hired another guy to help take some of the labor off me, but dont even know how long I will be able to afford him. I guess that I just have too much stress right now and dont know what I am doing anymore. I am actually strarting to hate my job/business. I have no motivation and lots of fear. I have been in this business for about 16 years and never felt like this.. My doctor thinks I have anxiety/depression now, and has me on meds for that. Says it should help me to see thing postitve.

I use to own my own business also... made good money and destroyed my mind and body in doing so... I'm 35 now and have come to realize that half of my life is over... so for the next 35 years I want to life life both healthier and happier... family is more important than $$$... they are the only ones who remember you when you are gone... peace.

I think you should possibly consider closing the business, I am afraid. As long as you have the mental attitude that you seem to (depressed/down) as a result of your health issues, the odds are that you wont get a whole lot of new business, and wont be able to turn things around. This would be because people wont get a real good vibe from you when you are giving quotes, and will be less likely to hire you. Close down the business and go to work for someone else in your industry for a while. This will take a lot of your stress away. Then hopefully you can get healthy, and recover financially. When that is all taken care of, maybe you can start again as an entrepreneur.

I would hire a broker and sell it. Meanwhile give it your best effort to keep going and growing. SELL It.

There is nothing wrong with you. You can get all the cheap advice, but after 16 years this is your LIFE. Maybe you need to introduce JESUS in your life now and his support groups. It's still your PROBLEM, get the right help. It's your spirit which needs the help for your whole BODY !
