Question

I'm thinking of starting a business, how can I start accepting payment over the phone or at customer premises?

There are a few of these all-in-one packages (e.g. netbanx and paypal below) but the prices are really high. First you pay 20 GBP per month and then about 3% on all transactions. Is there a better/cheaper way to accept payments over the phone? www1 ... www ... I've seen street sellers have now got chip&pin. How does that work, do they have a hidden phone connection or wireless internet, or can it work through a mobile phone? How much does that cost? Thank you for your contribution ERIN E, but that's not really answering my question. Yahoo answers was early into the market and is in a good position to take community answers to the next level (i.e. an expert system), so personally I think your time is not well spent promoting a newly-formed rival. ...or even a spam/junk website.

Hi, This is just an idea and I don't know if it would work for you. There is a company (see link below) which allows customers to pay using their mobile phone. Perhaps, if you had internet access on your mobile you could input the customer's phone number (with their consent, of course) on your web payment button, the system will then text them asking them to confirm their desire to make the payment (purchase). If the customer confirms via sms then you are guaranteed payment and they get billed via their mobile phone provider. Not too sure whether it would work for your situation, but, if it does, the fees are very low, can be covered by the customer if you choose, and your money is guaranteed. Check it out and see if it helps. Good luck
