Question

When applying for trademark...should I apply with the text only or wait until I create an actual logo with tex

I will eventually have a specific font for the text I would like to trademark. Does it matter about the font or should I just file the trademark with plain text.

Text only is not just for copyrights. In fact about half of the trademarks in recent USPTO Gazettes are text only. See here: www ... . They aren't too explicit about how much coverage a text only has compared to a logo. I understood the text only to cover any instance in which your text is published, regarless of format - but the logo is unprotected; and if you submit a logo, the logo is protected with the text but your text is only protected when accompanied by the logo.

Submit everything at once. Text only is for copyrights.
