Question
What are the odds after I graduate?
I just started working at Domino's last week. I already have the hang of ringing up orders, after working a busy couple of shifts on Friday,Sat, and Sun. This week I will learn to box pizzas; than by the end of 30 days, I want to be proficient in whole process. I came in with a plan. I graduate in about year. I was wondering, what are the odds of me being ready for general manager by the time I graduate? I know it dependent on how fast I learn and my motivation, but just a general esitmate? Also GM get a bonus what can be the highest total compensation?

After over 10 years working in a very well know fast food restaurant, I know that anyone can make it if they really work hard and are never shy to learn. In that period, I have trained more college students than I care to remember who came to work as part of their course requirements. These people basically fall into 3 broad categories : - The first kind are those who just need the extra credit. They're not in the least interested in learning anything or improving themselves. They just want to get it over with. - The second kind come in each day with an attitude. They think "I'm on my way to a PhD and I'm deserve much more than this job. But I'll see it through because it's required". They then proceed to do things their own gung-ho way, oblivious to the people around them. - Then comes my favorite kind (the type you seem to be). They know that there is a goldmine of opportunity in working their way up the ladder and they're not afraid to scrub floors, wash the toilets, call a shabilly dressed man "Sir" and do just about anything because that's what the job calls for. They're not afraid to learn how to mop the floor from the guy who's only had grade school education because he's DAMN good at mopping floors! If you're really the third kind, then those qualities will shine through, but you CAN help things along by approaching your management and offering your services to better the store and to ALWAYS be willing to learn. I think you should talk to your store manager and they'll let you know. Plus, giving your management a heads up that you're interested and motivated not only makes you look good, but they'll also make sure you get the training and opportunities necessary to make it to your goal. Good luck!

Gees you box some pizza and now you want to be GM with bonus pay??? #1 get real. #2 all the franchises / food places have management tracks - talk to your boss if you like Domino's or go to websites of the chain you are interested in - they will tell you what you need to qualify and how to apply. Many offer great careers - there is a huge demand and you can often get fast-tracked. If you get in with a good company and follow their program the re$t will follow... good luck!
