Small Town Business Ideas?
I want to start a business, but I live in a very rural community and have seen several businesses flop quickly. Does anyone have a good idea for a business that will have a low failure rating. I understand risk/reward, but I don't want to sink everything into something to watch it go under. This is a country community, lot of farm/oil based families. Close to one of the best bass fishing lakes in the world...but the marina/ lake market seems to be tapped. Any Ideas?

Bring more customers to already existing businesses. Make the pie larger instead of trying to squeeze another slice out. Try an icecream place. If people come there to fish in the summer, they may want some icecream to cool off. I live in a rural community and the icecream place's owners must be loaded because it is where all us highschool kids hang out when we're not stirring up trouble elsewhere. It manages in the winter because they did so well in the other three seasons. Good luck!

Hi Ryan, It sounds like you live by Kentucky Lake. My family recently moved from Orange County, California to a town in Kentucky with less than 300 people. I actually found it more stimulating and peaceful for concentrating more on my wife's and mine new business that we started in Sept. 07. The success has been more then we ever thought.
