Question
What kind of agreement(s) can a mall have with a store to keep them OPEN?
My step brother's business was about to close and the lease was set to end March 1st '08. He tells me now that he is not going to close his business 'cause the mall made an offer he just could not pass. Keep in mind this mall is very desperate and they had a lot of other stores gone in the past year. I'm curious to know what kind of "Deal" they offered him AND if you think the mall wants him to stay put, just until they find someone to take over his space. YOU are probably thinking why do you care what kind of deal was made, but the reason is I'd really like to know 'cause I want him to come work for me but he wont now cause he's busy with his business. Any ideas? & and this "DEAL" temporary or will he be sticking with his business for a long, long, long time?

seen this b4 the mall may have offered free rent, free utilities, etc for a period of time. with no expenses he can operate his buisness and keep the space full for the mall, and perhaps make some money, rental is by a square foot and can be extremely expensive, making it not worthwhile for a store operator to exist, so this might make the diff. in being profitable or not being profitable.
