You probably can. However, beware, these places that work with people with bad credit have lousy credit terms. I would not recommend using credit to buy a couch anyway. Credit should be used for something a little more constructive. House, car maybe, education, investment, but not for buying a couch. Also, avoid rent-to-own places. You get extremely ripped off doing business with those places. Here is an article that does a bit of cost comparison. www ... If you consider them, take the payment amount and multiply it by the number of payments. Take that number and see what it would cost to buy the product brand new. A lot of rent-to-own places will make double, triple, or even quadruple what it would cost you to purchase it yourself. You can live without a couch. There is no law of man or nature that says that you have to have a couch. You do not need to buy one. If your credit is poor and you have no money then it is probably in your best interest if you do not buy a couch right now. The layaway idea from my esteemed collegue is a pretty good idea. You slowly pay for the couch over time but you do not get it until it is payed for. That protects the business from you not paying up on the debt. If you stopped payments then they still have the couch. Another idea is to spend a few months saving what you were willing to put towards a couch payment and then go and find a nice, decent used couch. Check the papers. There are usually people trying to sell off couches and other furniture in there. We are trying to help you. If you have no money then going into debt is a bad idea. It is an even worse idea to go into debt for a couch. It is even a worse idea to go into frivilous debt with the economy the way it is right now. I would recommend that you take those couch payments and save them. Start to pay off any existing debt as well.

Don't buy on credit. Purchase via "layaway."
