Good day everyone, I am currently working on opening my LAN Center and am looking for assistance with my marketing plan to begin the process. 1)How likely would you find yourself going to a LAN Center? I have gone in the past because they have better rigs and connections than I can get. I also go when I am on the road and I have noting to do. 2)What type of multi-player games do you prefer? (i.e.: MMORPGs (Multi Mass Online Roll Playing Game), First person shooters, Strategy, etc.) FPS--like the Battlefield series. I haven't found a game that has replaced BF2 yet. 3)Which operating system would you prefer to interface with while at a LAN Center, Windows XP, Linux or Blag OS? I don't care because normally the computers are locked so that you really can't use the OS to do more than open programs. If I were you I would use Vista for at least a couple of machines so that you can have Halo 3. I doubt many other centers have that game. 4)How long do you spend within a day playing video games? (PC or Console based) I used to spend about 2-3 hours when I did game. I don't have as much time any longer to play for that long. 5)Are you satisfied with the current configuration that you have at home? Yes a.If yes, would you still take part in going to a LAN Center? I have a decent computer, but I have still gone to a cafe because I was on the road or I wanted to try a new game. 6)What games are you actively playing currently? a.Please provide a list: BF2 Some random PS3 games Civ b.What other games would you be interested in playing? Halo Unreal CoD4 7)Do you currently go to LAN Center? a.If yes, how often do you normally go? About 1 every other month (when I have time and no computer) 8)What expectations do you hold when going into a LAN Center? (i.e.: Smoking/Non-Smoking, Food supply, PCs, etc.) Non smoking is a must. Food helps, it also makes money for the owner. THE ERGONOMICS OF THE KEYBOARD makes a difference to me, I will stay longer if it is comfortable to type. 9)If you currently go to a LAN Center or would like to go to a LAN Center what distance would you travel? 1-2 miles (there are two within that radius) 10)What games would you like to see tournaments held for in a LAN Center you attend? (i.e.: Counter Strike, WoW, Warcraft III, Ragnarok Online, etc.) I don't attend tournaments. 11)In your opinion, what would be a feasible price that you would pay for a well run LAN Center? $2.50 per hour 12)If you do go to LAN Center now, this question is for you. a.During busy hours, how long is the wait for a PC normally when you go? None b.Do you normally leave if there is a long wait? Yes c.What would help you to want to stay? I wouldn't wait. If you open the LAN center you should think about sound. I have noticed that some LAN centers attract students and business people on the road because they have a better setup for typing and have good connections. The problem is that most LAN centers have speakers so that everyone can hear the Counterstrike "Headshot" sound effect every three minutes. I think getting headsets instead of speakers would make your center more useful for a variety of consumers. You should also consider using VOIP calling and marketing your center as a place to make low cost international phone calls. You might be able to get some extra business that way. Good luck.
