Question

Why does an internet ISP not deal with customers via email?

Tiscali is an internet ISP and communications company. But when you want to cancel your dial-up or broadband, they refuse to deal with you by email and demand that you call them on an 0871 number. This means that you have to pay (they get a cut from 0870 and 0871 numbers) to have your services terminated. Isn't this a charge on cancellation? They will gladly receive new business by email and on the net. One of the answer is grossly uninformed. You can get email without an ISP e.g Yahoo, gmail, etc. And, of course you can access the internet by going down to the local library (UK, at least). And, haven't you heard of secure email? Please, answers from the 21th century!

u've got it, its a scam to make more money from you, by keeping you on the phone they get kick backs.... the corporate world is all the same, they lure u in and then punish u for trying to leave....business globally is very sour these days.

Maybe they hope that if they make it too difficult to cancel, people will just keep them.

Because the people you have to call are actually salesmen. Their job is to keep you from canceling. The same goes for all sorts of services. Netflix makes you do the same thing. I had to listen to their BS offers before i could get them to cancel the service.

Because if you do not have an internet connection, you cannot send or receive emails. Also because emails on the internet are not secure, nor are they reliable.
