Question

am I better after the sale of my home to buy a older home and put more down or a newer home with less down?

this would be in san antonio metro area I have about 25,000 I will be able to put down and then another 10-15 thou jan or feb I can pay on it, I wont have any other debt but my mortgage by the way and it would be on the northwest to lower northwest quadrant

I think it depends how long you want to stay here. A newer house will get you more when you sell it. However, if the other house is just as good and less than I would go for that if you plan on staying here for a long time. You don't want to be in a situation that you are struggling. Also if you have kids...that is going to be a major expense...especially saving for college and such.

i would buy the newer home as its resale value would hold better for you to sell it in the future.

That's a personal choice. You should look at all your choices in the areas you want to live. Start looking now so you have plenty of time to make a choice. Good luck.
