There are more that a few lenders who specialize in credit cards for people with bad credit. You just have to look a little harder than most people have to. And getting a card after you've had a few problems doesn't necessarily mean that you have a higher than normal rate. Like, I said, you'll just have to compare between credit lines, yearly fees, and interest percentages. Just make sure you do your homework BEFORE you commit, and you'll be fine. go to your bank. get a prepaid visa. that is what my boyfriend is doing. After it being paid on time for prob a year or so apply for a real credit card through the same bank. I luckily had the option of 500 credit card or 500 overdraft protection with my bank account so I took the credit card to get my credit started.

You should be able to get a credit card. There are a few places that either don't do credit checks, but may require a security deposit. Most major banks don't help out in tough situations though. www ...

I would suggest that you look into getting a secured VISA or Mastercard. The way this works is that you open a savings account with a balance of, say, $500. The card issuer will then provide you with a credit card with a $500 limit. You will earn interest on the savings account, as well. Then begin using the card for smaller purchases and be sure to pay off the balance due each month. Your record of payment on time will gradually begin to boost your credit score to the point that you will begin receiving offers in the mail for unsecured cards which you actually can obtain. These usually carry an horrendous interest rate, so you should use such a card sparingly, but always mainting a good record of timely payments. Over time, you will be able to rejoin the major credit card mainstream with the admonition, again, to use credit cards sanely.
