Question

My Credit card Cloned?

I know about CC Cloning, but how many ways are there to get ALL the numbers from a card? By that...I mean the Security Code on the back as well (the 3 digit number). I have a brand new card....and only used it once to pay a bill, since then it has been used to pay for Airline Tickets. Im covered by the bank (luckily) but they said the person would HAD to have known the Security Code. Does this mean its something to do with the person at the end of the phone who took details of my card....or was my call being listened into? No one else can possibly have got the numbers from it...of this Im 100% certain. Cheers :) I cancelled the card as soon as i found out. Reported to bank and Police....but Im just curious about HOW they got the numbers! Ok..I paid a Phone bill with it...that is the ONLY time it has been used other than a cash point. No, theres no chance anyone could have seen it laying about. No one else here! (my cat??) Its out of:- Phone bill payment or cashpoint....my phone better not be tapped! Human infringement and all that!! Hi Achris.. Im sure no one saw me at a cashpint as Im very careful. Im certain it must have been from the phone company when I paid the bill...credit/debit card. It has been used on Euro's for 2x Italian airplane trips...surely they will be able to trace who booked the flight...got on the flight...as it wasnt me...unless they have my passport!!!!!!!!!!

I would definitely follow up any possible causes of this-- someone could be using your entire identity as well. Contact the credit bureaus, to make sure they are aware that this happened, that way if any unusual charges show up they can tag them.

You need to stop your card right now. You'll get another through in a few days.Speak to your bank over the phone, and they will put you through to the Fraud department.Good luck.

You say you usedit once on the phone. Where were you when you made the phone call? Could anyone have overheard you? Who took the call? Was it a reputable company, could someone there have passed your number on? When you received the card had the envelope been tampered with? Did you leave the card lying around unattended, even for a second or two? EDIT now you have edited and added more information, you have now said you also used it at a cashpoint. Are we talking credit card or debit card? How many times have you used it at a cashpoint, who saw you, did you carry it around with you, was your bag/purse/wallet ever unattended?

maybe your phone is tapped... since almost all the equipments for communication now can easily be monitored... especially telephones, someone could have easily been eavesdropping into your calls u know...

"..but Im just curious about HOW they got the numbers!" don't wonder, they did because u have a credit card. i use cash i figured they can't possibly clone that after i pay. close u cc u don't need them. they are snakes and when u play with snakes you will ... get biiten. ppl will tell u u need credit to build ur credit. u don't. study what dave ramsey teaches on money u stand to benefit alot and have nothing to lose.
