Question

What should I name my photography business and website?

I am trying to set up a website for my photography business and I need to pick a domain name and business name. I am a photographer for weddings, maternity photos, modeling shoots, special events, etc. Should I just name my business after me? Example with fake name: Alison Patrickson Photography and make my website: www. AlisonPatricksonPhotography .com OR Should I give my business a name even though I am the one and only photographer? Example: Special Events Photography and make my website: www. SpecialEventsPhotography .com

I would think a name for the business that would stand out would be preferable. Something like "The Flasher" or "The Flash" or maybe "A Flash in the Pan". Obviously not a name that would be a negative name, like "Blanks for the memories" or "A shot in the Dark"

I would go with just your name, it makes it more personable. Plus it really gets your name out there more than Generic name photography. I have lived in several towns and see names like the one you listed as a business in a few of these cities. Go with your name and list all the things you do and I think you will do fine. Good Luck

Go with your name. Market yourself as an individual, a professional photographer and not a company. It gives you more the cachet of an artist.
